Weatherproofing Homes & Buildings
By minimizing heat loss from buildings the amount of energy needed to heat the property to a particular temperature can be significantly reduced, leading to a reduction in fuel bills. Heat can escape via the roof, floor, walls, doors, and windows as shown in the diagram on this page, and measures such as insulating and weatherproofing can help reduce this.
- To reduce heat loss from roofing, make sure all seals and seams are properly sealed
- To reduce heat loss from Windows, use Windowseal at the frame when installing, cuts drafts between walls
- All wall penetrations can be sealed with Doublestick, this offers protection from pest control also
- Use Windowseal on all new door installations around the frame, this cuts out wall drafts also, between the door frame
Roof 25%
Windows 10%
Walls 35%
Doors 15%
Floors 15%
